Blogger blogger give it a read !

Here are 5 Blogging advices that you must ignore:

Advice 1: The Internet Folks Don't Like Long Posts

The mythical overlay of the opinion, “people do not read content-rich articles on web” is enormous and not good. Out of 10, 7 'experts' might advocate writing “short and sweet” posts. The truth however is somewhere between 'not really' and 'absolutely not'.

If you look around and look into the websites like Problogger, which more often than not has posts that go up to even 1500 words, or the sites like Leisure Martini that keep it somewhere between 500-1000, there is an inherent realization that when quality of the content is rich, it works for you anyways. But there have been surveys that have proved that longer posts are shared more than their shorter counterparts.

But the most significant and convincing reason for publishing longer posts is the fact that Google indexes such websites with a greater degree of surety and volume. There is a scope of using the relevant keywords with a greater count too, pushing your SEO intentions further towards glory.

Advice 2 - Write on As Many Niches as You Can to Draw Assorted Audience

Being a bit of everything is a dangerous thing to do. When you aren't focusing your blog on a particular niche and instead letting it restlessly roam around different themes and topics, you aren't building a loyal follower base. For example, a blog centered on movies has no business talking about the current affairs.

Deciding on a niche to write on has to be made clear at the time you are choosing a domain name for your brand. And once you set your website up, it is recommended you stay true to the name and the idea that drove you to start the blog in the first place.

Advice 3: All The Headline Advices

When it comes to choosing the headlines of your post, different tips are doled out by an assortment of advisors. One of the most common advices rolled out is “Write Crisp Headlines ONLY”. Crisp headlines do look and sound great, but longer headlines sometimes manage to grab more eyeballs. At the same time, writers try to achieve many things and in the process, end up making their headlines look cluttered and unnecessary long.

So, it totally depends how cleverly you are stringing up the words to make them interesting enough for the reader.

Advice 4 - Keep Content Rich with Keywords

It sure is a good SEO practice to have keyword(s) in the title and in the body of the post, but when you feel that forcing keyword in the content is making you compromise with the beauty of your writing, let go of the temptation. SEO and personalized content can live in harmony, but it takes time to bring that harmony into practice.

Advice 5 - Your Target Audience Isn't On Social Media, So You Don't Need To Be There

Social media is an indispensable part of blogging, no matter what niche you are targeting. So even if you don't believe you have got many potential buyers with very much active Facebook accounts, that's not a reason for NOT being on this platform.

A real estate brand, for example, might realize that an overwhelmingly large chunk of its Facebook fans is within the age bracket of 18-24, which implies it's not really attracting people who are the ones investing homes. However, before they jump the gun and scrap the page, they must acknowledge that it is still getting people to talk about the brand. When you are becoming an entity around which the discussions are spun on the Internet, you are already gaining some ground, which can then elevate you to set higher goals.

The misguided advices floating around the web have surely to be guarded against. If you aren't comfortable banking on your instincts.

GAMES TO PLAY BEFORE U DIE

People seem to enjoy "before you die" lists -- such as "places to see before you die" and "things to do before you die." This list of board games to play before you die doesn't include the classics -- Chess, Checkers, Monopoly, etc. -- or even modern classics like Settlers of Catan and Carcassonne.
Instead, this list includes 10 mostly hard-to-find games which provide unique gameplay experiences, all of which are worth tracking down to play at least once. (All of the links will take you to the game's entry at BoardGameGeek.com.)

1.  Polarity

For 2 to 4 players, designed by Douglas Seaton, most recently published by Temple Games (originally published in 1986).
The pieces are magnetzied and players must balance them carefully, "resting" them on the magnetic field created by other magnets already on the board. When the magnets snap together, that's a bad thing. It's also a bad thing when someone bumps the table, because that will cause magnets to snap together. More »

2.  Ice Cube

Published by Milton Bradley in 1970.
Each player has an actual ice cube which melts as this game progresses. Avoiding the "warm bath," "hot head" and "salt shower" will help. More »

3.  Axiom

For 2 players, designed by Michael Seal, published by Seventh Seal in 1988.
The man I believe to be the ultimate collector of offbeat games, Frank Branham, calls this abstract gem "the best 3D game ever designed, and one of the most visually impressive. More »

4.  Die Schlacht der Dinosaurier

For 2 to 4 players, designed by Roger Ford and Stephen Baker, published by Schmidt Spiele in 1993.
The bits are incredible for this game -- dozens of large, detailed dinosaurs -- even if some people claim that humans never really rode dinosaurs. Baker has designed some other fantastic adventure games worth trying at least once: HeroQuest, Battle Masters and Space Crusade. He also had a big role in developing the brilliant HeroScape. More »

5.  Confusion

For 2 players, designed by Robert Abbott, published by Franjos Spieleverlag in 1992.
Confusion lives up to its name because at the start of the game, players don't know where their own pieces can move -- only their opponent's. More »

6.  Maneater

For 2 to 5 players, designed by R.A. Nadeau, Nick Young and Richard MacRory, published by Footloose Productions in 1976.
This game could be subtitled "Jaws: The Board Game." Swimmers -- completed with detachable legs -- try to avoid sharks. One player controls the shark, while others take care of the swimmers. The shark player secretly writes down his move, then the swimmers roll a dice to move before the shark's plan is revealed. More »

7.  Pangaea: The Evolution Game

For 2 to 6 players, published by Pyramid Publishing in 1986.
Players start as lungfish and attempt to evolve into humans while avoiding the mouths of hungry dinosaurs as continents drift around the board. More »

8.  Nuclear War / Nuclear Escalation

For 2 to 6 players, designed by Douglas Malewicki, published by Flying Buffalo in 1965.
In this game (and a 1983 expansion, which can also be played on its own), players use nuclear weapons and propoganda to try to win control of the world. More »

9.  Tales of the Arabian Nights

For 1 to 6 players, designed by Eric Goldberg, published by West End Games in 1985.
"This is actually several games in one" is how the BoardGameGeek.com entry for this publication begins. There are elements of a roleplaying game, a quest game and a merchant game. More »

10.  Crokinole

For 2 or 4 players, a public domain game.
Crokinole is the only game on this list that's readily available -- but a good board does cost more than $100. Players flick wooden discs arcoss a smooth surface in a game not unlike shuffleboard and curling. Playing on a beautiful Crokinole board is a delightful experience. More »

5 things you need to do with your ps4

So, you were good enough this year that Santa dropped a PlayStation 4 down the chimney or your loved one bought you the best next-gen console for the holidays. What now?!? Where does one begin with such a powerful, versatile machine? Here are your simple instructions new PS4 owners, should you choose to accept them:
image002.jpg - Rockstar
Grand Theft Auto V. Rockstar

1.  Buy a Big Game

Duh, right? And yet it’s obviously the place to start. With all the fun things your PS4 can do, it will be first, foremost, and last a video game-playing experience for most of you. Let’s say you didn’t get one of those bundle packs with games already included and literally have nothing to play. Where should you begin? While the year ended strongly (and our top ten games of 2014 will be coming soon…trust me…a few more missions to complete to settle some very close races), the most essential games for the PS4 are still remasters of PS3 hits. Nothing shows off the potential of the system like “Grand Theft Auto V” and the best game of the last two years remains “The Last of Us.” Those two titles are still the most essential to experiencing what the PS4 has to offer. If you want to be up with the new titles, the best of the current games are “Dragon Age: Inquisition,” “Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor,” “Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare” and “Far Cry 4.” Pick the one that looks most interesting to you or click through to my reviews for further details (and come back the first week of 2015 to see where they place in my top ten. Sneak preview: One of them is #1.)

2.  Download a Small Game

You’re going to need to become friend with the PSN (PlayStation Network), and there’s no better way to do so than to start shopping. The PSN is essential to the PS4 experience. Sony has designed this machine to be a social experience, whether it’s in multiplayer combat, leaderboards, or social sharing of videos and screenshots. That stuff will all come naturally, as you experience the online portions of each game individually. First, you should take whatever free game Sony is offering through the PlayStation Plus right now. Carve out some free time if it’s still “Injustice: Gods Among Us” because that game is a blast, and prepare yourself for something new every month. You should also dive into a few games that don’t come with your PlayStation Plus membership, including the riveting “Child of Light,” addictive “Zen Pinball 2,” and everything that Telltale Games makes, including “The Walking Dead,” “Tales From the Borderlands,” “The Wolf Among Us” and “Game of Thrones,” in that order.

3.  Set Up Your Entertainment Options

The TV/Video services on the PS4 are robust and plentiful, easily serving as replacements for cable for an increasing number of people. You can access almost all of your favorites through the PS4 with quick app downloads, and most of them come with free trials for you to pick and choose your favorite. Personally, Netflix and Vudu have become staples in our household. The former is a well-known entity, but you should know that the interface on the PS4 is better than most systems, and the streaming quality is stellar. Hulu Plus looks good too, as does Amazon Instant Streaming. The PSN offers the same wide selection of On Demand titles as Vudu but the interface isn’t nearly as pretty. And you can use Vudu to store all the Ultraviolet copies of most recent Blu-rays in your house.
2. Get Your Free Software 3. Enjoy!
Play Online Games on Facebook With 1 Billion Users. Join For Free!

4.  Hook It Up to the Rest of Your House

Your PS4 can serve as an entertainment portal for many of your electronics, as long as they’re not made by Apple. If you have photos on your laptop or music you’d like to stream from it, that’s possible too, although the wi-fi speed needed for it to be seamless can be a bit much. I’m hoping for the day that Spotify and Sirius Radio have apps on the PS4. Until then, you may want to try out the 30 days free of Music Unlimited that likely came with your system.

5.  Get Excited

The fact is that the PS4 is just getting going. And I mean JUST. Until a wave of games at the end of 2014, there was honest concern that this system would fail to live up to its potential. Now there’s reason to get excited about 2015 and beyond. Stay tuned to About.com for reviews of all of the major titles and let us know what you’re excited to play. We’re probably just as excited.

TOP COMEDY MOVIES

Welcome to my top 10 comedy movies of all time. First thing I want to say is that I know many of you are going to disagree with some of my choices, but this is not my list of funniest movies ever, it is a list of my personal top 10 comedy's of all time. Although some of them may not be as funny as, for example, Airplane, they are my favorite comedy movies. Secondly, I hope you enjoy my list. Here it is!

10. Wedding Crashers (2005)

Starring Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn, Wedding Crashers features two friends who crash weddings to try to pick up, and hook up, with various girls. Things change when one of them begins to fall for a girl they meet. The movie is hilarious but at its core, its about the friendship between the two main characters. This is the movie that introduced me to the comedy genius that is Vince Vaughn as I had not seen Old School until after this one.

9. Just Friends (2005)

I remember seeing this in the movie theater with a bunch of friends, and for some odd reason I could not stop laughing at the scene where Ryan Reynolds character Chris is dragging around his suitcase in the snowy streets. I was hysterical, with tears rolling down my face from laughing so hard. I still laugh whenever the scene plays and probably always will. I love this movie but would have loved it even more if it wasn't for Anna Faris' annoying character. Just Friends follows Chris as he ends up home one Christmas and meets up with his old best friend, and crush, from his youth.

8. Dude, Where's my Car? (2000)

Two stoners wake up to find that their car is missing. The set out to figure out what exactly happened the night before, and where exactly is their car. Absolute ridiculousness and stupidity ensue. This is the movie that unleashed Ashton Kutcher and Sean William Scott upon the world. From a life time supply of pudding to aliens, this movie is one of the most ridiculous comedy's out there. Funniest part of the movie is at the drive-thru for the Chinese restaurant. "And then, And Then, And then...!"

7. Hot Tub Time Machine (2010)

Rob Corddry really steals the show here, as he does in almost all his roles. Also, the running joke about how the bellhop Phil, played by Crispin Glover, loses his arm is great. Hot Tub Time Machine is 80's throwback comedy about three friends and ones nephew who end up time traveling back to 1986 through the hot tub in their ski resort room. They are forced to relive this one important day but can not change anything or they could prevent Jacob, the nephew, from ever being born.

6. The Hangover (2009)

The movie that single-handedly made Zach Galifianakis an overnight comedy genius. The first time I saw The Hangover I thought that it was the funniest movie ever made, but after seeing it a second time i felt it lost a lot of its laughs. A lot of the laughs were shock gags that you did not expect to happen, but after seeing it twice those things were no longer funny. I've only seen the movie a few times because for me it never really had much replay value, which it why it lands a little lower on my list than I'm sure it does for others.

5. Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle (2004)

This is the movie that reinvigorated White Castle, introducing it to a whole new generation. The ride that Harold and Kumar takes us on is one of the most ridiculous, but absolutely worthwhile and hilarious. The story is simple. Harold and Kumar, two stoners, see a commercial on TV for White Castle and are now craving those delicious little burgers. On their adventure to White Castle they land themselves in some of the most preposterous situations. Although it may be full of pure stupidity and ridiculousness, the movie is comedy gold.

4. Clerks 2 (2006)

This is a movie that is best watched with a group of friends. It is the very definition of a gross-out comedy. Directed by the always funny Kevin Smith, Clerks 2 picks up a year after the first one, following Dante and Randal as they now work at Mooby's fast food restaurant. Things get complicated, and hilarious, when Dante begins fa good story for all of these characters, as well as Dante falling for Becky, while Randal plans a going away party for Dante. In between all the jokes there is a good love story at work between Dante and Becky that brings some heart into the film. I still laugh uncontrollably when watching it, no matter how many times I've seen it.

3. 21 Jump Street (2012)

Who could have guessed that Channing Tatum would be a great comedic lead? Jonah Hill and Tatum both provide plenty of laughs throughout this film. The movie follows two cops, Hill and Tatum, who are assigned to infiltrate a high school to try to find and stop whoever is distributing and supplying a new synthetic drug. It's hilarious to watch these two go back to a high school that is different from what they were used to. The funniest part is seeing these two on the synthetic drug, running throughout the high school and dealing with the gym teacher. Watching it a second time I picked up so many lines that I didn't catch at first time because I was laughing so much. Korean Jesus!!

2. Ted (2012)

Mila Kunis + the creator of family guy Seth MacFarlane + a talking teddy bear = an amazing movie. This movie hits all the right buttons and Mark Wahlberg was great as the lead. The premise is simple. A little boy, John, wished that his teddy bear could talk and when he wakes up the next morning he realizes that his wish came true. Now older, John must juggle his friendship with Ted and his relationship with his girlfriend Lori. What I really like about this movie is that there are a lot intelligent jokes mixed in with the silly stuff that younger kids that watch this might not understand.

1. Superbad (2007)

Well here it is. My all-time favorite comedy is Superbad. How could anyone not like this movie?? it came out the year after I graduated high school and instantly made me want to go back. I love high school, just not the school work. The movie perfectly captures the mind of senior in high school, and even those out of high school. I guess this movie could be considered a buddy comedy since it follows these two best friends, played by Jonah Hill and Michael Cera, as they spend an entire day, and part of the night, trying to score alcohol to bring to a party. At this party will be the two girls that they want to hook up with. Hill and Cera perfectly portray these two average high schoolers. I love this movies not just for the laughs, they are served by the dozen here,

MY FVT TOP WAR MOVIES

My Personal Top 10

In this hub I wanted to share with you my own personal top ten war movies, my thoughts on the films and the legendary movie stars who acted in them. It is I feel quite a broad mix of movies. On the whole centred around World War 2, but also the Vietnam conflict. I hope it may inspire people who may not have seen all of them to give them a try and appreciate some fine acting, exciting stories and dramatic plots.

Band of Brothers
Band of Brothers

No:1 Band of Brothers

This epic t.v. series focuses on the men of Easy Company, an elite unit of American WW2 paratroopers of the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army, led by Dick Winters, who time and again are sent on the toughest missions of World War 2. It follows their story from their stringent training in America and Britain, to their landing behind enemy lines on D-Day, their route through France, their jumping into Holland during operation Market Garden, advancement into Belgium and ultimately Germany where they were the first unit to capture Adolf Hitler's Eagle's Nest at Berchtesgardten.
I found this series to be utterly engrossing and brilliantly portayed the struggle faced by the Allies in their efforts to thwart the Nazis in their attempts to destroy the free world during World War 2. It boasts an extremely good cast of both British and American actors such as Damien Lewis(Life), Ron Livingston(Sex And The City), Marc Warren(Hustle) and David Schwimmer(Friends).
Directed in part by both Steven Speilberg and Tom Hanks, it is surely in my mind, without doubt the finest WW2 drama series ever produced for television.
NIght of Night by Dave Harris

NIght of Night by Dave Harris

No:2 Saving Private Ryan

This unforgettable movie must surely be considered as a madern classic, telling the compelling story of a small group of just eight American soldiers led by Captain John MIller(Tom Hanks), who are searching for Private James Ryan(Matt Damon) whose three elder brothers have all been killed during World War 2.
The men must face the ordeal of fighting on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day, fighting behind enemy lines and endure the the brutal realities of war in order to find the fourth and last surviving brother, to offer him the chance to escape the war and return home.
An outstanding movie, which graphically shows the sheer brutality of D-Day and beyond, questioning the very thought of war and it's consequences, with excellent acting from Tom Hanks and others like Matt Damon, Edward Burns and Tom Sizemore.
Superbly directed by Steven Speilberg, it is surely a must for any true enthusiast of war films and I could not recommend it highly enough.
Bridge on the River Kwai

No:3 Bridge On The River Kwai

The legendary star Sir Alec Guiness headlines this wartime classic directed by David Lean. It tells of the British prisoners of war in Burma in World War 2, who are forced by their brutal Japanese captors to build a railway bridge through the Burmese jungle, whilst British commandos are sent to destroy it.
This multi award-winning movie is dominated by Guiness's wonderful acting in his portrayal of the British commanding officer who refuses to let the japanese dictate to him, risking not only death by the hands of his captors, but also ending up close to madness in the incescent heat of the jungles' hellish conditions.
I would imagine this movie to be high on the list of any great movies not only of war, but of any genre.
A great film, a superb cast and a legendary theme tune in 'Colonel Bogey' that is surely recognisable even today.
Where Eagles Dare

Where Eagles Dare

No:4 Where Eagles Dare

Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood headline this suspense-fuelled World War 2 tale of two men sent on a daring mission to rescue an American General from a heavily guarded Alpine fortress.
But not all is as it seems.
Burton and Eastwood lend their weight to this adventurous Boys Own style, twist-filled hit, with a memorable theme tune and packed with great action sequences.
It's a thrill-a-minute adrenaline ride to see if they can pull it off and escape with their quarry.
This 1968 box office hit penned by the critically acclaimed Alistair MacLean and diirected by Brian G. Hutton, was terrifically brought to life by the cool presence of Eastwood and the incisive dramatism of Burton which made this MGM's biggest hit of 1968.
This movie is surely 'one for the boys' who long for stories of adventure, action and daring-do.
Perhaps a little indulgent on my part, but a personal favourite none-the-less!
The Longest Day

No:5 The Longest Day

With an all star cast including screen icons such as John Wayne, Henry Fonda, Richard Burton, Robert Mitchum, Michael Caine, Sean Connery and a host of others, this oscar winning dramatisation tells the story of the events of the 6th June 1944, D-Day.
It was the largest naval invasion in history and this movie is considered one of Hollywood's finest ever films. Shot in black and white, in an hour by hour re-creation, told from the viewpoint of both the Allies and the Germans, the movie brings home the unique atmosphere of that momentous and historic day.
It is a truly gripping movie from start to finish and it is a fascinating account of the massive preparations, mistakes and various events that determined the outcome of one of the largest battles in history.
The movie won oscars in special effects and cinematography at the 1962 Academy Awards and is jointly directed by Ken Annakin, Andrew Marton and Bernhard Wicki.
I absolutely love this film, it's content, it's truly superb cast and the way in which it is filmed is a real pleasure to watch.

Apocalypse Now

No 6: Apocalypse Now

Arguably this is the finest Vietnam war film ever produced, okay you might say what about Full Metal Jacket or Good Morning Vietnam, great films in their own right, but I feel Apocalypse is truely the best.
The film explores in great depth the insanity of the Vietnam war from it's memorable but worrying line "I love the smell of Napalm in the morning", it's jungle girlie show, to the terrifying encounter with Colonel Kurtz(Brando) the epitomy of evil.
Based on the Joseph Conrad novel Heart of Darkness and directed by the legend that is Francis Ford Coppola, it is a highly graphic and atmospheric portrayal of this crazy war and must surely be regarded as a true classic.
With a stellar cast including Marlon Brando, Martin Sheen, Robert Duvall, Harrison Ford and the outstanding Dennis Hopper lending their weight to terrific roles, this movie would surely grace anyone's top 10 war films and rightly so.

The Great Escape

No: 7 The Great Escape

This is another true 'Boys Own' style classic tale, with a strong cast of British and American talent including Richard Attenborough, Steve McQueen, James Garner, Charles Bronson, James Coburn and Gordon Jackson.
Based on a true story, the movie is a suspense-filled captivating masterpiece directed by John Sturges who also directed the Magnificent Seven and screen writer James Clavell who went on to produce Shogun, the classic samurai t.v series.
Centred around the prisoners of war at Stalag Luft 3 prison camp in Germany in WW2, the film tells the story of the group of escapees who worked on what became the largest prison break-out ever attempted.
With a memorable theme tune composed by Elmer Bernstein known the world over, The Great Escape really stirs the imagination and thrills the audience from beginning to end.
Another great favourite of mine, perfect for that lazy sunday afternoon on the sofa, it is surely one of the most memorable war films of all time.

No:8 Das Boot

This movie centering around a German U-boat crew operating in the North Atlantic Sea during World War 2 is an utterly compelling and gripping tale.
It really brings home the claustrophobic atmosphere of life below the sea and the terror the men face when they are confronted by their enemy, the British Navy.
Directed by Wolfgang Petersen, Das Boot is one hell of a couragous tale from whichever viewpoint and the spirit of comradeship is truly awe-inspiring.
I watched this film many years ago when i was still a boy and was enthralled by it's drama  then, watching it again years later gave me exactly the same feeling of claustrophbia and intense drama and I would most definitely recommend it to any war movie fan.
Jurgen Prochnow is outstanding in his portrayal of the U-boat's Captain and for every war film enthusiast, this is surely a must see.

The Heroes of Telemark

No:9 The Heroes of Telemark

This is another excellent suspense-filled war movie telling the story of how nine Norwegians destroyed a Nazi atomic bomb making facility during World War 2 at the Norse Hydro Plant at Telemark.
Headlined by Kirk Douglas and Richard Harris, it shows just how close the Nazis came to developing the apocalyptic weapon and by destroying the factory, effectively stopped the outcome of the war.being very different.
Directed by Anthony Mann(director of El Cid), this 1965 movie is a very true re-creation of exactly how the mission actually happened.
Another great movie for that lazy rainy sunday afternoon, curled up on the sofa

Saints and Soldiers

No:10 Saints and Soldiers

Winner of 13 international film awards, this movie, based on a true story, tells the tale of a group of American prisoners of war who manage to escape, but are without weapons and food, who are attempting to make it back to their own army's frontline.
It is an excellent portrayal of the hellish landscape of a battle-scarred Ardennes Forest of Belgium during World War 2.
Their perilous mission takes it's toll on the men and their lives hang in the balance. A gripping tale of ordinary men and the mission that made them heroes.
Directed by Ryan Little, Saints and Soldiers is a very powerful, wartime story of survival, morality and honour, well worth a watch and I highly recommend it.

Uplifting short film #1: Signs - A very sweet romantic film.

Where do you find love? If we knew, we would all know where to look.
Sometimes all you need is a sign.
Signs is a heartwarming short story about two people working in opposite office towers who communicate and eventually find love by holding signs up to their respective windows. It was created by Publicis Mojo and @RadicalMedia and is a 2009 Cannes Lions winner. The story is very engaging and the chemistry of the actors and their performances are superb. When I was watching it, I barely noticed the passage of time and couldn't wait to see what will happen in the end.

Uplifting short film #2: Marry Me - A cute and charming little love story.

Little girl likes little boy. Little boy likes BMX bike. Something has to give.
Marry Me is a cute love story about a young girl who likes a young boy and a young boy who likes his BMX bike. The film is based on a true story of director Michelle who, at 5 years of age, would chase her crush Jason Mahooney around the school in a pretend wedding dress (her mother's nightie). This is an adorable short film that captures the innocence of childhood, and the children's acting is very believable. Women viewers will love the ode to girl power somewhere towards the end.
Director: Michelle Lehman

Uplifting short film #3: Clocktower - A quiet, heartfelt and moving film.

A clockwork girl learns her true purpose in life, and her ultimate sacrifice to save her clockwork world.
The Clocktower is a short animated film that was actually created as a thesis project. It is about a clockwork girl who lets go of her dreams in order to make her world function normally again. It's a very sad and touching story, yet it makes us think of how one person's anonymous selflessness can make a huge difference in many others' lives.

The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein - A poignant tale of unconditional love.

Every day the boy would come to the tree to eat her apples, swing from her branches, or slide down her trunk and the tree was happy. But as the boy grew older he began to want more from the tree, and the tree gave and gave and gave. This is a tender and touching story that warms the heart and offers an affecting interpretation of the gift of giving and a serene acceptance of another's capacity to love in return.
The Giving Tree
The Giving Tree
"Once there was a tree ... and she loved a little boy." So begins a story Of unforgettable perception, beautifully written and illustrated by the gifted and versatile Shel Silverstein. This is a classic, both touching and poignant because it can be interpreted and reflective of real life in many ways.

Uplifting short story #4: Wrong Side of the Bed - A clever film that plays on alternate realities.

Normality takes a turn on his head when Mr Average Joe suffers a very unlucky day when he gets up on the wrong side of the bed. Will he manage to get back on the right side of life or will he be doomed to suffer bad fortune for the rest of the day?
In Wrong Side of the Bed, a split screen shows us the same character having a great day on one side, and a much worse day on the right. The opposing realities collide somewhere down the middle and ends in a pleasant, unexpected twist. It reminds me a bit of the 90s movie Sliding Doors (which I love, incidentally).
